Natural Immunity Is Stronger Than 3 Vaccine Doses

An increase in hospitalizations “fueled by the extremely contagious omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5,” according to White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, has the Biden administration considering a plan that would let all adults to obtain a second Covid-19 booster.

Only people over 50 are currently eligible for second booster doses.

Meanwhile, there is already talk of a possible fifth shot. In a recent televised interview, CNN host Don Lemon questioned CNN medical analyst Jonathan Reiner about the likelihood of such an event.

LEMON: “That was my next question, I’m giving away my age because I’ve already had four shots, I’ve had two boosters, so I’m over 50.”

REINER: “Me too.”

LEMON: “So are we going to get a fifth shot? We’re going to have to have a fifth shot?”

REINER: “Yeah, probably.”

The conversations highlight a few Covid vaccination facts.

“Immunity wanes,” Fauci said during a White House briefing on Tuesday, “whether that’s immunity following infection or immunity following vaccine.”

Natural Immunity vs Vaccination

While it is clear that immunization wears off over time, recent study (read below) published in The New England Journal of Medicine reveals that acquired immunity from natural sources endures longer than immunity from vaccines.

Millions of people participated in the case-control study, which used data from Qatar collected between December 23, 2021, and February 21, 2022. These participants included 1,306,862 recipients of the Pfizer vaccine (BNT162b2) and 893,671 recipients of the Moderna vaccine (mRNA-1273), as well as unvaccinated individuals.

The study’s findings on the vaccinations are conflicting.

The best news is that “any form of previous immunity, whether induced by previous infection or vaccination, is associated with strong and durable protection against Covid-19–related hospitalization and death.” (In other words, the risk of hospitalization or mortality from Covid is decreased by both vaccinations and innate immunity.)

The fact that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations “enhanced protection among persons who had had a previous infection” is also encouraging.

“The combination of prior, full vaccination and prior infection was maximally protective,” researchers stated in a summary of the study’s results published by the Weill Cornell Medicine Newsroom last month. “Individuals with prior infection and three doses of either mRNA vaccine were, overall, nearly 80 percent protected from symptomatic infection during the omicron wave.”

However, the study also discovered that two vaccination doses provided “negligible” defense against Omicron infection.

“A key finding was that a history of vaccination with the standard two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccine, but no history of prior infection, brought no significant protection against symptomatic omicron infection,” researchers said.

Three shots of the Pfizer vaccine provided significantly better protection. However, the level of defense was still inferior to natural immunity, which provided greater and longer-lasting defense against infection than vaccination. (Researchers noted that “people with a prior-variant infection were moderately protected from omicron with little decline in protection even a year after their prior infection.”)

The results are comparable to those from Israel, which were published the previous year and revealed that natural immunity provided stronger protection against the Delta variant than vaccinations.

In an article investigating the Israel findings, Science stated in August 2021, “The natural immune protection that develops after a SARS-CoV-2 infection offers considerably more of a shield against the Delta variant of the pandemic coronavirus than two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.”

It was discovered by more than a dozen other studies that natural immunity provided Covid protection that was at least as effective as vaccination.

‘The Foundation of All Rights’

Mandatory vaccination programs were questionable even in the absence of these data. It is a grave and perilous matter when the government infringes on someone is right to bodily autonomy. But in light of these discoveries, vaccine requirements also seem absurd.

While many organizations—including the NCAA, which in January revised its stance to allow athletes who had Covid to compete—now view Covid infection as a type of immunization, many others do not. A lack of vaccinations has led to the dismissal of thousands of soldiers. Mandatory immunization requirements for healthcare professionals still exist in many locations.

It is past time for all organizations, particularly governments, to acknowledge that vaccination decisions should be left to people. The notion that independence over one’s own body is the most fundamental and vital freedom is shared not only by libertarians like Ron Paul, but also by international leaders like Natalia Kanem, a physician who heads the United Nations Population Fund.

“Bodily autonomy is the foundation on which all rights exist,” Kanem bluntly states.

All attempts to push people into getting vaccines (or otherwise) are coercive and, as a result, wrong. The government, in particular, contradicts its basic purpose for existing when it violates an individual’s right to bodily autonomy for a purportedly larger good.

“The only proper purpose of a government is to protect man’s rights,” the philosopher Ayn Rand noted.

It becomes more and more obvious that vaccine mandates were not simply morally wrong as more studies like the one published in The New England Journal of Medicine come out. They had no logic.

Fortunately, a lot of people are starting to understand that.
