A dramatic change in France: in 3 years, Macron has placed 500 orders with private firms, 43 billion euros spent
“The Republic of Consultants”. This is the expression used by the journalists of the Nouvel Obs to describe the excessive recourse of the French State to private consulting firms for the management of the country. Constantly solicited by the State, these firms ended up replacing the civil servants now relegated to the background.
But this is not the only problem highlighted by the Nouvel Obs survey . Indeed, according to the French newspaper, the State, under Macron, spent a crazy amount of money to obtain the advice of international private firms including McKinsey, whose role in the vaccination campaign has raised a lively controversy in France.
Thus, according to data provided by Le Nouvel Obs, in 3 years, more than 500 orders have been placed. A phenomenon which is accelerating and which does not fail to upset senior state officials. The phenomenon is accelerating. It is accompanied by a profound dysfunction of our public services, which have lost their meaning for civil servants and are completely disconnected from people's needs, protests magistrate Arnaud Bontemps
The data is mind-boggling. Thus, according to the Nouvel Obs, "in a note published in April, a group of senior civil servants estimated at 163 billion euros the services that the State outsources in the form of public service delegation (120 billion) or purchases of intellectual services (43 billion). 43 billion euros, nearly 6% of the state and local authority budget!
The French media continues: “this data, however spectacular it may be, has not been denied to us by the Ministry of Transformation and the Public Service. But does the government even know the exact figure? No official study has ever been done on this subject. An opacity which the Court of Auditors has been moved by in several reports”.
