How Chinese Spies Stole COVID Monoclonal Antibody Treatment Secrets In 2015

Chinese spies stole COVID monoclonal antibody treatment among other secret methods from the US back in 2015. Alarmingly, even the coronavirus treatment science was among the things to be stolen. What this means is that even before COVID-19 broke out officially, atleast the US and China were already working on its treatment.

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Jan. 3 that a third former scientist at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has pleaded guilty to stealing trade secrets to the tune of $1 billion to benefit a pharmaceutical company which was backed by Chinese regime funding.

The third scientist employed by GlaxoSmithKline, Lucy Xi, pleaded guilty to stealing trade secrets – to boost a competing, state-funded Chinese pharmaceutical company. Trade secrets included the science behind COVID-19 treatments.

Lucy Xi, and her three co-defendants, established Renopharma (the Chinese pharmaceutical company). It was done with funding from the Chinese Communist Party to supposedly research and develop anti-cancer drugs.

However, this team, used the company as a vessel to steal information from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in the United States.

Xi and her colleagues worked at a GSK facility in Upper Merion, Pennsylvania.

In January 2015, Xi sent Yan Mei (co-conspirator) a GSK document containing “confidential and trade secret data and information,” according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The DOJ notes the email focused on research into a lab-produced molecule often administered as a treatment for COVID-19 called monoclonal antibodies – despite being sent years before the onset of the virus:

“The document provided a summary of GSK research into monoclonal antibodies at that time. In the body of the e-mail, Lucy Xi wrote, “You need to understand it very well. It will help you in your future business [RENOPHARMA].”

“This defendant illegally stole trade secrets to benefit her husband’s company, which was financed by the Chinese government,” noted U.S. Attorney Williams.

“The lifeblood of companies like GSK is its intellectual property, and when that property is stolen and transferred to a foreign country, it threatens thousands of American jobs and jeopardizes the strategic benefits brought about through research and development. Such criminal behavior must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

“Pharmaceutical firms like GSK invest staggering amounts of time and money to develop new medications and bring them to market,” said Jacqueline Maguire, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division.

“When individuals steal valuable trade secrets concerning one of these drugs, it’s a threat both to that firm and beyond. After all, innovation like this propels the U.S. economy. The FBI is committed to enforcing laws that protect the nation’s businesses from such theft. We will not permit American research and development to be scavenged for the benefit of other companies or countries.”

What this means is that even before COVID-19 broke out officially, atleast the US and China were already working on its treatment.

As reported by GreatGameIndia earlier, a confidentiality agreement showed potential coronavirus vaccine candidates were transferred from Moderna to the University of North Carolina in 2019, nineteen days prior to the official emergence of Covid-19 pandemic.

The case is similar to the Chinese biological espionage incident at the Canadian lab.

Since the beginning of the declared pandemic GreatGameIndia has also been following a critical thread of investigation into the origin of COVID-19. The key to this entire issue is what happened in Canada’s Winnipeg National Microbiology Laboratory.

The findings of this investigation has been corroborated by none other than the Bioweapons expert Dr. Francis Boyle who drafted the Biological Weapons Convention Act followed by many nations.

The National Microbiology Laboratory scientist who was escorted out of the Canadian lab along with her husband, another biologist, and members of her research team is believed to be a Chinese Bio-Warfare agent Xiangguo Qiu. Qiu was the head of the Vaccine Development and Antiviral Therapies Section in the Special Pathogens Program at Canada’s NML.

In March last year, GreatGameIndia reported how the Canadian parliament erupted over a heated debate regarding the cover-up of Chinese spies stealing coronavirus from the Winnipeg based BSL-4 lab to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
