China Launches Construction of Country’s First Floating Nuclear Power Station
China launched the construction of its first floating nuclear power plant, media reported.
The construction will be led by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), according to the Daily Economic News newspaper. The nuclear power plant will have a ACPR50S reactor, the exact location of the plant is not yet defined.
In April, the head of CNNC Sun Qin announced the construction of the first floating nuclear power plant to be launched by the end of 2016 and put into operation in 2019. The project cost of one such plant is estimated at $461 million.

?There are currently 30 energy units in China, with a total capacity of 28 gigawatts (GW), while another 24 power units are under construction.
