Thunderbolt in Great Britain: the opposition revolts and demands the publication of all Covid contracts

Taking advantage of a big scandal concerning a contract of 244 million dollars that the British Conservative government offered (during the pandemic) to a medical company close to an MP belonging to this government, the British opposition demands the publication of all contracts signed during the pandemic.

British health authorities are in deep trouble. While the previous government led by Liz Struss could not resist pressure from the opposition, the new one led by Rishi Sunak risks being swept away by a new scandal over vaccine contracts signed with laboratories during the Coronavirus pandemic.

This is at least the information that Lecourrier-du-soir.com has just obtained, on December 06, from the Reuters press agency . Indeed, according to this source, the ruling Conservatives in Britain have been warned against any attempt to block a British opposition initiative to demand the publication of vaccine contracts.

The Reuters agency tells us that the initiative was born following a 244 million dollar contract that the British government awarded to a medical company known as PPE MedPro, which specializes in the manufacture of surgical masks and of gloves. The case is all the more embarrassing as the company in question was recommended to the government by Michelle Mone, who is a member of the British Parliament. A friendship that does not pass.

The information was confirmed by the English media Sky News which tells us more. Indeed, according to this source, the initiative to hold the government to account is led by Labor MP Angela Rayner, who accuses the government of having failed in its duty to launch a serious investigation into this affair.

According to Sky News , Labor now wants to use this opportunity to introduce a vote that will force the government to "publish all contracts, advice and correspondence involving ministers and special advisers" relating to contracts signed during the pandemic.

Speaking to the press, Angela Rayner didn't mince words. “Tory MPs have a choice of either supporting the Labor Party vote that seeks to force ministers to be transparent in the $244million contract awarded to a company linked to a female MP belonging to their party or being complicit in this scandal that they seek to stifle, ”she warns.

In England, the affair made a lot of noise and the reactions were numerous. " Finally! The Michelle Mone scandal is catching the attention of the general public. But, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Contracts worth £4 billion have been awarded to members of government. We denounced this in October 2020”, reacts the organization Good Law Project.

And this organization was not the only one to be indignant. In a tweet posted on its official account, the left-wing movement European Unity roundly attacks the Tories. “The Sunday Times reveals Tory MP Michelle Mone lobbied ministers for a £203million deal. Of that sum, the £29 million went into his pocket. It is not the migrants who steal your money, but rather the Tories”, ironically the movement.
