Fauci Accused Of Collusion With Big Tech To Suppress Free Speech In Latest Lawsuit
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt have served Fauci with a lawsuit accusing him of colluding with Big Tech to suppress free speech.
In response to a federal judge’s order that the administration comply with discovery requests resulting from a lawsuit alleging government collusion with Big Tech, the White House’s chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, and other senior Biden administration officials have been served with discovery requests.
Government officials are charged with conspiring with Twitter and other major social media platforms to censor genuine information on a variety of subjects, including COVID-19.
A case in point is how Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, met in private with scientists who then immediately sought to refute the idea that the virus that causes COVID-19 originated in a Chinese laboratory. At the same time, Fauci was exchanging messages with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg over how COVID-19 information on social media was handled. Fauci has frequently questioned the so-called lab leak theory and his agency financed research at the lab in Wuhan, China.
In the request, Fauci was instructed (pdf below) to list all employees in his company who had or had conversations with social media platforms about content modification and/or misrepresentation, to list all such communications he had, and to identify all such communications he had with other individuals.
Additionally, he was asked to provide all communications with platforms regarding the Great Barrington Declaration, the COVID-19 strategy put forth by Drs. Jay Bhattacharya, Martin Kulldorff, and Sunetra Gupta that Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins criticized both publicly and privately, as well as all correspondence with Zuckerberg from January 1, 2020, to the present.
The White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Nina Jankowicz, Jen Easterly, the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Homeland Security all received discovery requests.
Subpoenas
The plaintiffs in the lawsuit, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, also served subpoenas on Meta, the parent company of Facebook, as well as to YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
The subpoenas require the platforms to turn up all communication with Jankowicz and other federal officials as well as other documents by August 17.
The records include Jen Psaki, Jean-predecessor, Pierre’s who stated that officials are “in regular touch with these social media platforms” and that “we’re flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation” at a briefing in July 2021.
Republican Schmitt stated in a statement that “we will fight to get to the bottom of this alleged collusion and expose the suppression of freedom of speech by social media giants at the behest of top-ranking government officials.”
